Using Google for Education: ways to build on potential

In line with my recent post about using Google as an education tool, I came across this blog entry by Rob May talking about some golden rules for using Google Aps in education, which, he claims, along with other cloud solutions, 'are revolutionizing the way educators teach and students learn'.

He talks about the need to energise everyone to get involved; to expand knowledge by trying it out and taking courses where necessary; to collaborate with teams of educators both within schools and between schools; to invite and encourage participation from as many stakeholders as possible, including students and parents. He also touches on its potential for better understanding student learner needs through sharing data and student work, something which is increasingly seen as being at the heart of developing effective learning communities and improved student outcomes.

Food for thought.

I'm an educator driven by the desire to see people realise their potential by gaining the tools they need to be successful.  I love being part of a community of learners for whom there is always more to be known and understood. For me, learning and teaching is cognitive, social and emotional and takes the whole self.
